Manage your time to become less stressed By Sarah Youngs There are only 24 hours in the day, and for most students, that is just not enough. Sleeping four hours a night and then trying to fit a million tasks into one day drives students crazy and makes Red Bull sales soar. We all think we need more minutes and hours, but is it that we just need better time management? Time management is hard for students, though there are some tips that all of us can use to make the most of every minute in the day. According to the Web site, www.mindtools.com, you should “Prioritize to-do lists.” When you make a to-do list, do not just try to do everything on the list immediately. Prioritize tasks according to the most important to the least, and this will help make sure everything gets completed. The Web site also states that a way to beat procrastination is “to not invest time in the wrong tasks.” When succeeding in time management you will not only get more sleep at night, you will also have many other added advantages. The Web site www.Dartmouth.edu lists some benefits for time management such as, “Motivation increases, reduced avoidance, promotes review, eliminates cramming and most importantly, reduced anxiety.” Becoming aware of your lack of time management will help you fix problems you are having and make you a less stressed, more relaxed student. The lists of benefits provided by Dartmouth shows that we would lead happier lives if we learned how to balance and manage our time, though this is easier said than done. Who wouldn’t you like to sleep more than three hours a night? If you learn to manage and take the many tips provided, is attainable. By starting today, can have time management down just before finals week, which is when students are extremely stressed. Try today to prioritize a to-do list and then add more tips every day until you have no problem holding on to every second of the day. |
