One campus group recently pledged their time toward a good cause. The brothers of Pi Kappa Phi took refuge in the Union Mall Thursday, April 10 through Saturday, April 12 to raise funds for the fraternity’s philanthropy, PUSH America, during a sit-a-thon.
The brothers used tents and tarps to protect them from the rain during the end of their sit-a-thon.
PUSH America benefits programs for people with disabilities. Pi Kappa Phi is the only national Greek organization with its own philanthropy.
The brothers participate in multiple programs to assist PUSH America, including Give-A-PUSH weekends and Gear Up Florida.
Last summer, two brothers attended Gear Up Florida, where they embarked on an 800-mile bike ride through Florida.
Events such as the sit-a-thon and “dorm storms” help support the events.
Pi Kappa Phi is a nationally chartered fraternity, with the Eta Lambda chapter serving Brockport. Their mission statement includes “We will lead.”
The brothers conducted a sit-a-thon in the Union Mall in the fall, as well. At the sit-a-thon, they raised more than $500 for PUSH America. |
