BSG Campaigns start early By Amanda Seef As the clock struck midnight, Tuesday, March 25, candidates and their campaign associates began the two-week process of open campaign on campus. Facebook groups were created for president, vice president and treasurer candidates in the early morning, with hundreds of students joining the groups by noon the same day. Posters and table tents made their way into academic buildings, dining halls and dormitories. Candidates used forms of campaigning, including T-shirts and pins. Campaign information includes promised goals for the next year, as well as candidate qualifications. Mandatory debates for candidates will take place Tuesday through Thursday of this week, with Wednesday’s debate in TRAX at 9 p.m. The maximum spending ceiling for Presidential/Vice Presidential and Treasurer tickets is $500, and the maximum spending for Board of Director candidates is $200, per the Election Guidelines passed by the Board of Directors earlier this academic year. All printed media used for advertising and campaigns must be presented to the Election Commission. |
