Franklin Found Not Guilty of Malfeasance By Amanda Seef and Laura Luettger The impeachment hearing for Vice President Randall Franklin was held Wednesday, March 26 at 3 p.m. in Room 187 of the Seymour College Union. Franklin has been found not guilty on one count of malfeasance that could have removed him from office. Franklin was charged with one count of malfeasance because of money owed to BSG. Since the impeachment of Franklin Friday Feb. 1, he paid back any money owed. Court was brought to session by Head Justice Mercedes Martinez before the plaintiff, Cultural Clubs Representative on the Brockport Student Government Board Rebecca Newberry, was able to present her case. At the time of the impeachment, Franklin owed $46.33 for an extra night in a hotel for a conference he attended, receipts totaling $290 for prizes for a weight-lifting competition and additional fees for cell-phone charges dating back to July 13. These were all paid off Feb. 7. Read More |

Have a voice in who represents you and your money
Ask not what The College at Brockport can do for you, but what you can do for The College at Brockport. As college students, we are given the right and responsibility to make the decision of who is going to represent us. Upcoming Brockport Student Government elections for president, vice president, treasurer, and on and off-campus representatives begin April 7. While some believe that one vote cannot make a difference, it truly can. |

Gymnasts take silver at nationals By Jim Krencik The College at Brockport gymnastics team finished their 2007-08 season with a second-place finish at the National Collegiate Gymnatics Association National Championships. Wisconsin-La Crosse took the team championship, but Brockport’s showing was no less impressive. The Golden Eagles won six individual All-American awards, including three for Lauren Gildemeyer. Gildemeyer tied a career-high in the floor excercise to win the national championship, as her 9.85 put her a step above the rest of the field. Gildemeyer also made it to the finals in the vault, where the sophomore finished in seventh place with a 9.575. Gildemeyer also finished third in the all-around. Gildemeyer’s performance was a good one to end a year on, but the season may not be over. She was selected as the first alternate for the Division I Northeast Regional Championship in the floor excercise. The event will be held April 12 and 13 at Penn State. Read More

Students run write-in campaign for BSG By Amanda Seef
As the election for BSG President and Vice President dwindled to just one ticket running, two students have begun a write-in campaign to bring about change and reformation to BSG and their processes. Sophomore Jeremy Grant and junior Kevin Miner announced their candidacy, Monday March 31, requesting students write their names in to the ballot. Darnell Pierce and Michelle Ford were disqualified by the Election Commission, leaving only Kyle Amendola and Bill Keating for candidacy for the President and Vice President positions, respectively. |
