For those of you who decided to stay in Saturday, March 8 because of the weather, you missed a well-organized show and a unique experience. This year’s drag show theme was Cabaret. The Seymour College Union Ballroom was buzzing with people waiting to get in.

Once inside, it was completely dark, aside from the array of colorful lights bouncing off every wall. Hundreds of people were in the front of the room, dancing to music that was played before the show began.

Countless hours and dozens of people made the show the event that it was. Two giant screens hung on both sides of the stage and many smaller screens hung around the perimeter of the Ballroom.

For an entire song, high-heeled gorgeous women showed off their singing talent and raked in cash at the same time.

“It’s second nature, being that it’s our third time,” said S.O.U.L. (Sexual Orientation United for Liberation) President Josh Sliker.

That statement is far from false. Every performer looked as if they had performed their number in front of an audience hundreds of times before. The audience went wild with laughter and hollered as each performer finished. BSG President Darnell Pierce received the most enthusiastic applause after his number.

Disc Jockey NICKL, who performs at the Rochester Nightclub Tilt, was the DJ for the night, while Kristen Becker of The Dykes of Hazard, was the host with many jokes, ranging from Facebook vs. MySpace to writing in a diary. While the performers were backstage getting ready, Becker entertained and wowed the jam packed crowd.

Each performer was chosen by S.O.U.L. The performers brought their own unique taste to the table. Some of the performers from the night include Ambrosia Salad who performed “Barbie Girl,” Pandora Boxx and her number of “All That Jazz,” Anneal Pleasure, who performs at Tilt, performed “What Hurts the Most,” Olympia LaPaige and her performance “Umbrella,” and Pierce performed “The Thong Song.”

The night was filled with laughter, dancing, comedy and much talent from the on-stage performers.
